Example 9
Case with Constrained-choice Exercises

Learning Purpose: Recognize the difference between two antecedents of perceived risk (perceived negativity and perceived probability).

I have found that perceived negativity and perceived probability are tricky concepts; students who clearly understand the concepts during a lecture will sometimes become unclear about the concepts when it comes time to apply them to a business situation. To give students practice in applying these concepts, as well as to give them feedback on whether they understand the concepts correctly, I have developed this learning activity. It is a simple case that I use after a lecture component on perceived negativity and perceived probability. By using a brief case and a series of constrained choices, I give students a number of opportunities for guided practice.
